School Council

The main aims of the School Council are to hear concerns, requests and ideas from everybody, in order to move the school forward. Areas for discussion might include catering, the curriculum and school events, the school's facilities, boarding life and social activities. It is a great opportunity for the girls to present positive and innovative ideas, backed up by workable plans. Above all it is an opportunity for the girls to make a real difference to school life.

School Council representatives are elected by their peers at the beginning of each academic school year. Recent successes of the Council include ideas to provide:
The School Council works as follows:
The Council holds 3 meetings in the Autumn Term, 2 in the Spring Term and at least one meeting in the Summer Term. The Head Girl runs the meeting and the two council representatives from each form attend.
 
Week 1 – School Council suggestions placed in School Council suggestion box located in the Learning Resource Centre

Week 2 – Agenda for meeting produced and discussed in a prefect meeting prior to the Council meeting

Week 3 – the Council meets to discuss the ideas raised. Subsequently, the Head and Deputy Head Girl meet with the Headmistress and Deputy Headmistress to discuss points raised
 
Week 4 – Staff responses to suggestions are fed back to the girls through form period or assembly
